In Czech Republic “La Formaggeria Gran Moravia” won the award for the best retailer of 2016, beating Globus and Lidl
La Formaggeria Gran Moravia won with 65% of the votes the Mastercard Obchodni roka 2016, the most important award in Czech Republic in the retail industry. The chain of shops was awarded during the Retail Summit 2017 with the vote of a jury of 500 experts, after a passionate live presentation of the three finalists. Second place for Lidl with 19% and in third place is Globus with 16%. In the previous editions the prize was won by Ikea and Lidl.
The prize awarded in Prague at the 14th Mastercard competition on January 31st, 2017 as part of the Retail Forum 2017 is very prestigious. This year the retail chain La Formaggeria Gran Moravia won this prize in the category “Merchant of the year 2016 – New experience of purchase pleasure”.
Founded in 2010, today the chain of stores La Formaggeria Gran Moravia counts 19 stores, more than 120 employees and more than 1.5 million customers a year, with 70% of sales imported from Italy. The formula of “La Formaggeria Gran Moravia” is based on proposing, at reasonable prices and accessible to all, the highest quality products, from the Gran Moravia cheese production plant in Litovel and from Italy. The direct link between the production plant and the stores allows to contain the costs and to offer extraordinary products.
The stores
Good Italian food, reasonable prices, knowledgeable staff and satisfied customers: this is the simple formula for the success of the stores La Formaggeria Gran Moravia. The shops are characterized by almost minimalist, bright and sophisticated décor, designed to give maximum emphasis to the products and make the shopping experience easy, enjoyable, and at the same time unique. Each of the 19 stores, designed by the Reggiano architect Domenico Rocca, from the first day of the opening were stormed by a large and diverse audience. As said by Roberto Brazzale, creator of the project and president of Brazzale group:
“We are making customers happy: during their shopping experience we make them discover the wonders of our gastronomic tradition, without the brake of exaggerated prices. We are demonstrating that Italians can make good things everywhere and that quality does not necessarily have to be the privilege of a few, and we are also demonstrating that a healthy diet is possible and can be affordable. Our consumer is the mirror of the Czech people: educated, attentive and curious. ” The goal of the shops “La Formaggeria Gran Moravia” is precise: to offer, at reasonable prices, high quality products, directly from the producer, coming both from the dairy Gran Moravia Litovel, in Czech Republic, and from Italy.
The product assortment
In the stores the customers can find the complete range of dairy products “Fresh from our dairy”: the fresh products’ line that arrives directly from the production plant, such as ricotta, mozzarella, curds, butter, milk, yogurt, flavored whey. But the main items are, of course, the Gran Moravia aged cheese and the fresh butter, both cut directly in the store. To complete the range, the shops offer the full range of cheeses from Italy, the charcuterie, sliced and packed at the moment, and a huge selection of typical ingredients of Italian cuisine, both sweet and salty, carefully selected to ensure the highest quality at the best price. The consumer can also find beautiful books telling about the Italian territory and its local specialties, suggesting recipes accessible to anyone.
The Formaggerias’ magazine
To respond to the customers’ demand for news and practical tips for the use of the products purchased, the shops offer since 2014 also their own magazine. The magazine, distributed free of charge in all stores, contains an insert dedicated to the recipes of the Italian cuisine, featured by a chef, tourist information about Italy and about the history of the products, news and insights regarding the symbols of the Italian cuisine.
